Children's Literature:

This is, of course, me and my two SPECIAL ones,

and Laura (who smiles any time)

I have always loved "children's'" stories, but not until the summer of 1997 did I gain the opportunity to actually make them part of my academic studies. As usual, I list these works by their titles. However, because of this special category is driven by age, I have--after giving a general listing--divided the stories listed below by suggested age levels: Ages 2-6; Ages 7-13; Ages 14-18. These limitations are certainly NOT engraved in stone. Appreciation for them can and should endure into adulthood. Of course these two are helping keep my interest alive and fresh.

Ages 14-18

This last list is quite honestly also an adult list; I suspect that there is little difference between an 18 year old reader's ability and that of a 40 year old reader's, except for the elder's ability to appreciate the verisimilitude of life's experiences. That final quality changes as long as the Lord allows us breath which is why a book can be read over an over again with new appreciation. In a number of cases the works below did not even begin as Children's Literature. Instead they were chooses and cherished by the young people themselves.

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens [Fiction][short story] [Children's Lit.] [Fantasy] [British] [19th Century]
