Scripture which Comes to Mind:

Comments:  This is a horrifying play.  The murder of one's children is unthinkable to me no matter my provocation.
Many readers will feel that a terrible injustice has been done when Medea is allowed to escape after she commits so many murders--especially after poor Oedipus who did his crimes in ignorance must bear such a terrible burden.

However, one of my students brought up an important series of points  She notes that while Oedipus has gained the full benefits of the system in which he lived, Medea had gained nothing.  She is utterly marginalized.
