Another chilly day.  Today we piled into the van and traveled out to look at the fortifications built to protect Boston's harbor: Fort Independence.

It was one of those gray cold days of New England.  Fort Independence stands upon a hill, a brown stone edifice.  Walking about the fort we gain a good view of the harbor which it over looks.

   

It was not hard to image how Edgar Allan Poe when stationed here during his short term in the military got the inspiration for "The Cask of Amontillado."
