Sea Log - Day Thirteen - Jan. 19th, 2002 (Saturday)
Off we go again. Thankfully, since my dad hates traffic, the roads were clear in Boston. Still when we arrived at Boston airport we were clearly in a different world than we had seen in Columbus.
Elayna made it through I think this time. Certainly she looked a lot less disheveled. Me, once again I cause trouble. This time it was my brass spy glass which landed me on the extra precaution platform, taking my shoes off and opening my backpack.
Not far from Miami is the town of Homestead which sits right at the beginning of the Florida Keys (and is just minutes away from the Everglades National Park). Homestead Church of the Nazarene is located at 300 Northeast 15th Street, Homestead FL 33030 and is pastored by Rev. William Chambers Sr. and Jr. Rev. Bill Chambers is also an Air Force Chaplin and serves as Wing Chaplin for the Homestead Reserve Base as well as for the US Southern Command.
The Homestead Church kindly opened their facility for us to stay in both right after our arrival in Florida and just before we left for Columbus. (Elayna stayed in the pastor's office while the guys slept in the Teen Sunday School room).
It was a real pleasure visiting with the Chambers, my crew seemed to have an especially good time with the youngest Chambers generation.
