Sea Log - Day Fourteen - Jan. 20th, 2002 (Sunday)

Sunday in Homestead began bright an early for us since we had to get up and be certain to be ready and presentable before the congregation appeared.  So even though none of my guys got up before 9:00 while in Boston "We don't do Breakfast" they were up and polished for Sunday School here.

In point of fact, the only one not ready when folks began to arrive was me.  I was down in the Church kitchen brushing my teeth when in walks the entire pastoral family.  Worse yet, I had one of the new fangled electric tooth brushes which are preset to run for two minutes.  So everyone is being friendly and saying "hi" and all I can do is say "hummmem!" while my brush buzzes away in my mouth.

During service I made a point to testify to God's provision in opening the doors for our van rental

After service, the Chambers extended family (three generations) invited the whole class over to the Sr. Chambers home where we were served delicious Southern cooking.  I don't know how many times I said "I can't believe I'm eating corn on the cob in January!"  They also opened up their homes for shower use which was really appreciated by the whole group.

I sang "Will Your Anchor Hold?" in the evening service which proved ironic since on Tuesday night, somewhere off Plantation Key, our anchor did not hold.  Again, God was with us in that there was no damage. But more about that later.

If any of the group wishes to contact the Chambers family and reaffirm their kindness here is the email: lchambers1214@juno.com
