· Assistant Director of the University of Rhode Island's Writing Center. (Fall 1993).
Responsibilities include the management of five tutors and seven work-study students in one on one tutoring, computing, and outside projects. Also the center is responsible for implementing URI's first "Communication Technology Classroom."
· Interim Director of the University of Rhode Island's Writing Center (Spring 1993).
Responsibilities include not only ongoing tutoring but also the direction of four other staff members in their tutoring and workshop projects. For a more complete list see attached job descriptions. .
· Adjunct Professor of English at the University of Rhode Island (Fall 1992 and Spring 1993).
Taught British Literature Survey [ENG. 251] and Composition [Writ 101] at URI's College of Continuing Education in Providence as well as continuing to serve as a tutor in the Kingston Campus' Writing Center.
· Teaching Assistant of English at the University of Rhode Island at Kingston RI. (1988-1991).
Taught English composition [Writ 101], The Short Story [Eng. 243)] British Literature Survey I & II (Eng. 251- [Eng. 252], and Introduction to Literature [Eng. 103]. Also served as tutor at URI's Writing Center and directed their annual short story contest for two years.
· Instructor and Lecturer on English Literature and Composition at Point Loma Nazarene University at San Diego, CA. (1986-1988).
Taught British Writers I & II, Writing Workshop, English Composition I (Theme writing), and English Composition II (research paper).
· Instructor of English in South Shore Christian School at Levittown, NY (1985-1986).
Taught English composition, grammar, and literature to seventh, eighth, and ninth grade. Developed and executed the school's first ninth grade English curriculum.
· Substitute teacher in Massapequa School District at Massapequa, NY (1984-1985).
Grades covered were Grammar, Jr. High, and High School, with an emphasis in History and English.
· Teaching Assistant of English at Lehigh University at Bethlehem, PA (1981- '82).
Taught English composition, with minimum supervision, to three classes of Lehigh Freshman during fall semester, and Composition relating to the Short Story to three classes of freshman during the Spring Semester. Also, gave personal tutoring to foreign students and freshman in Lehigh's Learning Center.

· Ongoing interest in developing an Internet Presence for Mount Vernon Nazarene University as a platform for Long Distance Learning.
ü Participated in the Fall of 2006 in the online class “Facilitating Online Learning (Group O1).”
ü Was part of the initial task force which introduced Blackboard in the Summer and Fall of 2001. All classes taught since then have been augmented with Blackboard.
ü RealEducation Online Committee 1999. Prepared and taught an online version of Introduction to Literature in the Fall of 1999.
ü 1998-1999 Created web resources which students can access online to augment their experience in Introduction to Literature. Began creating web syllabi for all classes taught.
ü Using a Title Three Grant awarded in 1998 created with Alan Schrock an online resource to be used by Freshmen Research Students to take advantage of the ability of NIFTY (now NazNet) to narrow subject searches 1998.
· Composed the proposal and spear-headed the process (2003-2004) leading to a major reorganization of the English major which included. . .

· Awarded a Teagle Grant to investigate and develop a class at sea involving collaboration between Mount Vernon Nazarene College and Eastern Nazarene College as well as between their respective English and Biology departments. April 2001. (A class on Sea Literature was sponsored by MVNU but held at ENC in January 2002).

Not only does this page have links to all my current class syllabi in interactive html format, but it also contains my personal testimony and a statement describing my integration of my faith with my discipline.
· “Dr. Rearick’s Readers’ Corner.” This page is an index to a whole series of web documents that contain alphabetized information on books, drama, poetry, short stories, historical time periods, genres, and authors. Most of the information ties into the assigned readings for various classes. It was designed as a resource for any literature class taught at MVNU. However, it also is meant to express the general joy of reading. (1994-2005).

Final Note: Both Loretta and I have a history of far more community involvement. However, our activities have been curtailed here in Mount Vernon because of the age of our children and of the special needs created by the failing health of Loretta's parents. We are a classic example of being part of the sandwich generation.
