Our Page of Memory:

One aspect emphasized by the Asian world view is the importance of history and respect for those who came before.  Some westerners have known this: "If I have seen farther than others, it is because I was standing on the shoulders of giants." -- Isaac Newton

Yet, in the constant pressing towards what we believe must be a better future, we too often take for granted or even dismiss the work of those who have benefited us.  This seems especially true because of the advancements in technology and science.  For example the following alteration of the above quote seems telling: "In the sciences, we are now uniquely privileged to sit side by side with the giants on whose shoulders we stand." -- Gerald Holton.  Its nice that the author feels "privileged" but few students of eastern thought would dream of sitting with their teachers no matter their accomplishments.

The example of Christ comes to mind:  "Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped" (Philippians 2:5-7).

Thus to develop a true and Christ-like humility, these pages were created.
